Direct Reach Ethiopia (DRE) was established in 2013 to support Hope For Children Ethiopia (HFCE) to accomplish its mission assisting some of the world’s most vulnerable children DRE seeks to deliver aid directly to where it is needed most.
DRE and HFCE provide children with:
- An Extended Family
- A Future
Ethiopia has extreme poverty on an immense scale; exacerbated by HIV/AIDS. However, its people are proud and dignified and extremely motivated to learn how to improve their situation. Even a small donation makes a world of difference. $1000US previously invested in the Babile Flour mill now supports 250 people. $200US buys 2 boxes of reference books from the University bookshop. $10US can buy a decent pair of leather boots.
The DRE Board and members, drawn from a variety of complementary backgrounds, all work on a voluntary basis. Donations of time and passion from accountants, dentists, doctors, geologists, lawyers, nurses, psychologists, teachers, administrators, students, retirees and the Perth medical community between the people behind DRE and HFCE over many years have led to a mutually trusting and respectful relationship. Costs are kept to a minimum.
Every project targets a dire unmet need, identified by people on the ground. The sponsors and donors of DRE can transform the life of a child for less than the cost of a bi-weekly cup of coffee. To correspond with, and maybe visit that child and see their progress, is one of the world’s most rewarding journeys.
You are invited to take that journey with us.
